| Tip: Periodic transmission oil check (engine running, gear shift in park and hand brakes applied): Tip: Ford E40D complaint: On some 1997 F-150 trucks, there may be a soft/drawnout/or slide/bump 1-2 upshift. Cause: May be the transmission was build with wrong valve-body spacer plate. Trick: GM TH400 shift sequence/slow or fast shift may be altered by changing governor springs. Tip: Chrysler A604 complaint: trouble moving selector level into any range. Cause: May be a bad neutral-safety or PRNDL switch, a binding manual shaft or a bad shifter cabel. Tip: GM 700-R4: Install transmission oil cooler. Tip: Chrysler A604: Change oil and filter every 20 000 miles. Trick: Ford E4OD: Make sure all electrical connections to transmission are clean. | ![]() |
